The OBD-200 reports odometer, engine-hour, and bus data back to Fleetwatch. Before it goes into service, use the MR-55 handheld to tell it which vehicle preset to run, what the odometer currently reads, which bus number it's on, and to auto-detect the CAN bus rate.
BEFORE YOU BEGIN Put the MR-55 into technician mode first, plug in the module, turn the ignition on, then press ID, NO, YES in order. The header changes to **Main Menu** when it works. Stay in this mode through all four sections below; if the header ever reverts, just repeat this step.
IMPORTANT NOTE Always perform the auto baud as the final step during configuration.

PROCEDURE AT A GLANCE

PHASE 1 · STEPS 1–3 Vehicle Preset Program the module for this vehicle's Para or Non-Revenue preset. PHASE 2 · STEPS 4–5 Initial Odometer Set the module's starting odometer to match the dashboard. PHASE 3 · STEPS 6–7 Bus Number Assign the vehicle/bus number to the module. PHASE 4 · STEPS 8–9 Auto Baud Auto-detect the CAN bus rate with the ignition on.
Phase 1 — Set the Vehicle Configuration Preset

Read the Module

With the MR-55 in technician mode, press 1 to read the OBD-200. Wait for the results to fully populate before continuing.

Open CAN/OBD Setup

Press CLEAR to open the configuration menu, then step down through the menus: 3 (Initial Values) → 4 (More) → 4 (CAN/OBD Setup) → 4 (More).

Four menus deep, if you land somewhere unexpected, press CLEAR and start the sequence again.

Select the Preset & Reset

Choose Para Preset or NonRev Preset for the vehicle this module is being installed in. Once it's programmed, press “RESET” on the MR-55 to return to the main menu.
Phase 2 — Set the Initial Odometer

Return to Initial Values

Read the module again (1), press CLEAR for the configuration menu, then press 3 for Initial Values.

Enter the Odometer & Reset

Press 1 for Initial ODO, enter the dashboard reading, and press “SEND”. Press “RESET” when done to return to the main menu.

This value is in tenths of a mile. If the dashboard doesn't show tenths, leave that last digit at 0.
Phase 3 — Set the Bus Number

Open Set Bus#

Read the module (1), press CLEAR for the configuration menu, then press 2 for “SET BUS#”.

Enter the Number & Reset

Enter the vehicle number and press “SEND”. Once it's set, press “RESET” on the MR-55 to return to the main menu.
Phase 4 — Run Auto Baud

Open Auto Baud

Read the module (1), press CLEAR for the configuration menu, press 3 for Initial Values, then 4 for More.

Run Auto Baud

Select Auto baud (1) and press “SEND”.

Ignition must be ON. Auto baud can't detect the CAN bus rate with the ignition off, the MR-55 will report a failure.
